At 7Solutions we usually have a huge stock of single gas monitors compared to other gas detection suppliers, but why? A single gas detector is basically measuring only one gas at a time with a single sensor. Many companies have put great care and thought witch dangers are present at a location or site. Single gas detectors offer a great solution for customers who know what they are dealing with.
Some single gas detectors are sustainable, and others are disposable. The latter has a run time for either one, two or even three years, continuously. The sustainable single gas detectors are fully serviceable, and all parts are replaceable. Calibration can always be easily done by either hand or fully automated docking stations.
With great care, we have assembled an application list of which single gas detector can be used in a certain application. It does not mean a single gas detector cuts the deal in all these applications. For solid advice, please contact 7Solutions in Gas Detection.
O2 – Nitrogen applications - Many companies work with Nitrogen whether they use it in packaging, producing, or cooling. Nitrogen is not toxic, but when present, it will drop the Oxygen levels in the atmosphere. Hence producing the hazards of Oxygen deficiency.
CO – Boiler rooms and utility companies - CO poisoning in the private sector is one of the biggest gas related death problems in the western world. Many boilers or central heating systems lack the proper maintenance. Without proper maintenance a central heating system or boiler can produce over 2000ppm of CO. This value exceeds the deathly threshold of carbon monoxide.
H2S – Refineries & Waste – when a refinery plant is working with ‘sour’ oil, H2S poses a lethal danger to the workforce at the plant. While smelling like rotten eggs and you might think easy smellable the gas paralyses the sense of smell at higher concentrations. Fooling the ones trusting their nose in a false sense of safety. H2S is also produced in high volumes in rotting waste, making it very common all around the world.
NH3 – Agriculture and cooling – Ammonia is a natural coolant present in many installations and agriculture applications. Ranging from a cooling gas to a resource for producing fertilizer this gas is not to be underestimated. NH3 is also one of the few gasses that enter the body through different means than the raspatory systems. The gas is also absorbable through the skin.
CO2 – In many applications CO2 is a hazardous gas. As CO2 isn’t visible. It is Tasteless en Odourless and therefore very dangerous. When intoxicated by CO2, people will be tired and sleepy followed by unconsciousness and eventually die. Although these risks CO2 is commonly used in greenhouses, refrigeration, Dry-Ice applications and in the food and beverage industries.
O3 – Cleaning – With the outbreak of the corona virus, many companies, hospitals, and civil services started cleaning with Ozone. Ozone basically can kill anything, including viruses. It is deadly, cost efficient and detectable. Measuring a room before re-entry is advised, Ozone is as deadly to humans as it is to a virus.
H2O2 – Cleaning – Hydrogen Peroxide is famous for dying hair and cleaning. Many privately available cleaning agents use hydrogen peroxide as a detergent. You can frequently find H202 in industrial cleaning and hospitals.
PH3 – Phosphine – Is a common fumigant, often used in the shipping industry.
The list goes on and on. For the UNI alone we have more than 23 different sensors! We would love to hear from you guys for which application you use your single gas!
